Where have you seen the best sunsets of your life?

Media_httpih3redbubbl_jadsr

Sunsets in Uruguay are unforgettable. An iranian friend has told me once that sunsets over here are as beautiful as in Africa. I've never been in Africa but I trust on her opinion as an experienced traveler. Uruguayans have a nice tradition. In some beaches of the atlantic coast it is common to give tribute to the sunset by clapping hands.

Spring and summer season are the best ones to appreciate the amazing sunsets happening on this tiny spot of the southamerican continent. I particularly recommend Punta Colorada, Cabo Polonio and Solis as some of the best places to enjoy this natural spectacle. The Montevideo bay is also special.

You should seriously consider adding this to your "must-see" traveling list when around Uruguay.

Anyways, where have you seen the best sunsets of your life? Share with us on the comments below..Thanks! :)

Piano Concert at the city center. So great!

Wednesday night I had the pleasure to assist to a great piano concert by Raquel Boldorini, at the Nelly Goitino Auditorium.

The concert was breath taking, so great that combined to the antique arquitecture and decoration of the auditorium, it took me to the 1950s.

Montevideo has a very very strong cultural life, mainly supported and sponsored by the government. You can choose from ballet, piano concerts, opera and many more options that take place during working days and weekends.

Raquel is an uruguayan pianist with an important international career, having studied and performed with well known artist in France, Italy, the US and Brasil as the most celebrated performances she made and won great awards.

The critics in Paris and Washington pointed her "as a name to be remembered".

You can follow the cultural agenda on the Sodre website! Tickets for all shows can be bought on any Red Pagos. You can find one on each neighbourhood. (recommended!)

My Last Bowling Failure..What's your score?

Media_httpimagenesgal_yfheu

Sunday noon we went to the Cosmic bowling located in the Montevideo Shopping Center. The place was crowded, tipical at this time of the year..it's freezing on the street!

I have to say that I might be one of the worst bowling players in the history of the game. My score had plenty of 0000s but at the end I manage to make some good shots.

The environment is good. The service is not the best, but I don't have nothing in particular to complain about.

Anyways, what's your best bowling score?

Travel Easy Around Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil

Travelling around Uruguay has never been easier and faster before.
Usually tourists leave the country with the idea that there is only nice beach spots on the atlantic coast, but that is not true.
Visiting the best ranches and Inns in Uruguay will take you to go to other areas like Salto, Paysandu, which are on the north.

Mapauruguay

Now with Buquebus airlines you can travel by plane to several places between Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil south region.
Flight frequency is good and relatively cheap. You can travel from Montevideo to Salto, which is greatly known for its thermal waters.
You can also fly from Punta del Este to Buenos Aires easy. Brazilian destinations include Florianopolis, Iguazu water falls and the nice city of Porto Alegre.

So my recommendation is, spend some great days in Uruguay and then plan a escape to those destinations mentioned before. Uruguay has been always known as an strategic location in southamerica and you now can see why.

Montevideo Yacht Club - Sailing, gastronomy and events

Media_httpfarm1static_xancs

Hi GourmandsUruguay friends and followers. I must say that this post has many objectives. The Montevideo yacht club building is one example of the amazing arquitecture you can find over the city. This decó arquitecture building was built in the decade of the 30's, a very special year in the history of Uruguay that celebrates other events with worldwide significance like the Fifa World Cup, the 1st one, which finally Uruguay won against Argentina.

The Yacht Club building is an amazing place for sports, events and leisure. You can become a member to enjoy the best quality sailing sports in the city, but the club also counts with tennis courts and gym.
The building also works as a great events venue, which is usually used by its members for private parties and corporative events.

To add even more options, the building counts with a great restaurant, which in my opinion is one of the best of the city, for its location, service and atmosphere. The restaurant is open for the public and its very recommendable to go for lunch and enjoy the view from the sofas at the balcony.

If restaurants is about, the Yacht Club restaurant is a must. And of course, if you want to try sailing over the River Plate too!

Range price: 35 to 50 dollars for two.

Brand New ICE BAR in Montevideo!

Getting a 7 degrees below zero Vodka drink sounds interesting, innovative and great fun.
The spring started but some people still want to enjoy a bit more of the winter time.

The new Ice Bar is opening soon at the Victoria Plaza Hotel, one of the best five star hotels in the city.
Spanish investors brought this innovation to the city, expecting to create a new form of tourism, atracting people from all over the world and especially from the big neighbour cities like Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo. This new ice bar is supposed to exceed people expectatives and make a difference among other ice bars around the world.

The bar has been constructed with 180 ice blocks of 50 to 90 cms width. Its amazing decoration includes LED ilumination, wide screen tv, webcams, and a giant ice sculpture from the "Quijote de la mancha".

Regarding drinks, the star is the Vodka since it only gets frozen at over 67 degrees.
The bar also offers beer, special drinks, juices among others, which are kept at special temperature.

To access this amazing atraction, entry ticket is only $350 uruguayan pesos or $17.5 dollars which also include a gift drink. Supporting the below 6 degrees cold is not a problem, vodka and others' alcohol high graduation drinks are a solution but not the only one. Visitors will be provided with the needed apparel.

Have you ever been in such an amazing Bar like this around the world? Share your experiences with us on the comments section below. Thanks!

PD: We promise to bring some photos soon!
